ACCORDING TO A LEAK, WHATSAPP MAY SOON ALLOW YOU TO SEND FILMS IN HIGH RESOLUTION.

WhatsApp's heavy compression algorithms are infamous for compressing video files to extremely low quality in order to get them across faster.

Over the years, videos received via WhatsApp have been synonymous with low quality. The program uses high compression techniques to ensure that movies reach the other parties as quickly as possible. However, this frequently leads to a significant decrease in video quality. However, this could change shortly with a future WhatsApp upgrade.

The instant messaging service is adding a new feature that will allow users to choose the video upload quality. According to WABetaInfo, users will soon be able to pick between a 'Best Quality' mode, a 'Data Saver' mode, and an Auto mode to determine the quality of video clips they share.

The option may be critical for many customers who have previously used other services to send higher-quality films. Not all users have date or time constraints, but they are all required to send lower-quality clips. The new function will give consumers the option of saving data or watching high-quality videos.

It is yet unknown what, if any, limits will apply to the ‘Best Quality' mode. The leak does not imply that the mode would always keep the original video resolution. It is likely that higher resolution videos, such as 4K and 8K footage, will still be compressed.

The new setting will ostensibly be a global one that will be applied to all videos. So, for the time being, if you want to use the data-saving mode and then transmit one high-resolution clip, you'll have to go into the settings, change your video upload option, and then send that clip before switching back to the original model. According to the leak, the feature is still under development and will be available in a future update.
